August 2014

This sweet girl just keeps growing and gets funnier everyday!  I love the conversations we have.

Elle was oddly quiet one night on our way home.  When I went to get her out of the car she said, "Mommy, wook!"  It's hard to tell in the picture but she had found some stickers and covered her legs in them.  Don't mind the stroller next to her, that was a huge deal that her baby's stroller HAD to come with us.

Elle's new thing when she is told "no" to something or caught doing something she's not supposed to is to start whining, grab her legs and say she's "itchy".  I guess at some point when she was being told "no" to something she told me she was itchy and I immediately checked her for a bug bite and probably forgot all about telling her "no no" to whatever she was doing.  Now it's her go-to move when in trouble...because Eric and I are such hard core disciplinarians.  We are wrapped around her finger. ;)

Elle is on a big Monsters University kick every night she requests to watch "Monsters" and her favorite is Sully the "big monster".  I've actually stopped planning her Frozen birthday party (I know I'm the only crazy lady who starts planning these things 6 months in advance) because who knows what her new obsession will be by then.

One Saturday night Mary and I took the babies to Playtime Party Center, a neat place with tunnels/arcade game/bounce houses.  Their mascot is Henry the Hippo and when he walked out I was sure Elle would be terrified.  To my complete surprise she walked right up to him and gave him a five and then chased him for a hug.  I was shocked!  Elle had fun hanging out in the tunnels with Henry and MiMi...

and Charlie Bear and I had fun watching them.

Here she is cheering on Coach Unc at his football game.  It took some serious convincing to get her to go.  After the Santa Claus fiasco at the Rascals game she is now convinced Santa goes to all Unc's games.

Elle has started to love building castles with her blocks.  She asked me to take a picture of her creation, she was so proud of it!  Maybe a future architect?

Picnic in bed one night!

This little girl is so funny if there is something she doesn't like (TV show, juice, food, anything) she scrunches up her nose, waves her little hand and says "not this".  It's the cutest thing ever!  She also went through a faze of wanting to wear her sunglasses at night when she would watch a TV show.  One night she saw Mary take out her contacts and put on her glasses so Elle thought she should do the same.

We tried out a recipe I found online for homemade Popsicles, Elle was a big fan.

She packed up her purse one day and told me she was going to MiMi's house :)

Cheers!  Elle loves this, she asks to "cheers!" when we are eating, playing, anything!  These two also love suckers and ask for them anytime they are at MawMaw & PawPaw's house.

Our niece Harper turned one this month so we took Elle shopping for her bday gift one night.  Elle wasn't so great about shopping for someone else, she kept insisting it was her birthday party the next day.  She did great at the actual party though but to be safe I kept her a good distance away from the presents. :)

One weekend at the mall the kiddos rode the Merry Go Round....

and then I wanted to take Elle to the American Girl store to see what she thought.  She loved it and desperately wanted to take one home...

so our shopping trip ended like this. :(

She will ask sometimes to have her picture taken with Vito & Hermann.  She really loves them!

We were driving and she asked to hold my hand.  Anything for my Roni!

And that's a look at our August.  Next comes the most wonderful time of the year, FALL!

Take Me Out To The Ballgame...

The weather this summer was so nice so we decided to take Elle to a Rivercity Rascals game one Thursday night.  Lucky for us it just so happened to be "Christmas in July" at the ballpark.  They had Christmas lights up and did little holiday themed games in between innings but the biggest surprise was seeing Santa at the game!  I thought Elle may be over her Santa fear because she loves watching videos of him on Netflix but the fear is still alive and kicking!  I took her over to see him and she lost it...completely lost it!  To make matters worse, the Rascals mascot (a puppy dog) walked up at the same time and only kicked her fear into overdrive. Poor girl!  I think she really wanted to like the Rascal mascot, in between tears she would wave and say "hi puppy dog!" but he was just too big and scary for her.  We spent the rest of the game on the opposite side of the field. :)

Elle was convinced we were there watching Unc play, she kept cheering and yelling "Go Unc!".  I didn't have the heart to tell her it wasn't Will on the field.

Elle ate pretzels, nachos, hot dogs and cotton candy (I think our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs...plus I had a craving for ballpark food :)

Nachos in a dog bowl, Elle got a kick out of this!

Elle would ask us throughout the game if Santa had gone home, she was so nervous about seeing him again.  There was one final Santa spotting on our way out so she clung to Eric. :)  And ever since she has said she doesn't want Santa to come to her house Christmas morning.  I'm hoping we can turn things around by December. :)

July 2014

July was a fun month.  We spent a lot of time outside playing with chalk, playing at the splash pad and keeping cool at the pool.

Elle had her 18 month checkup (about a week shy of being 19 months old).  She weighed 25 lbs (75%) and is 33 1/2" tall (90%).  Our last doctor appointment (12 months) didn't go very smoothly.  Anytime the doctor would touch her or try to examine her ears, mouth, eyes...anything...Elle would cry and crawl in my lap.  We spent a lot of time leading up to her appointment by playing with her Doc McStuffens doctor kit.  I would use all the tools to look in her ears and mouth and tell her the doctor is going to do this but it won't hurt at all.  It actually worked.  She sat in my lap like an angel during her entire examination.  She even took her shots like a champ.

We met Mary and Henry for a fun pool day one weekend.  Elle played for about an hour and then sat in my lap under an umbrella eating snacks the rest of the time.  Hensy could have played for hours and hours, he is a true water baby.

One of Elle's favorite things to do this summer was to play outside with chalk.  It was her number one request as soon as we would pull into the driveaway.  I love doodling so I was always up for it.

Elle has her MawMaw to herself over the summer on weekdays.  One day they went shopping and mom bought her this little doll.  Elle was in love.  This girl loves all her babies and is such a little caretaker!

Mary, Henry and Charlie came over for another slumber party.  We started the night by going out to dinner...Hens was in a really goofy mood.  After dinner we went out for ice cream and at one point Hen decided it would be funny to take his shirt off....he was right, it was really funny. :)

Eric, Paige, Will and I went to the Kings of Leon concert one night.  We are all huge fans so it was a super fun night.  We spotted Nacho at the concert and Will and I just about lost our minds.  I think this kicked Will's drinking into overdrive and the rest is history. :)

Elle highlights:
- still sleeping in our bed :)
- names most of her baby dolls "Puppy dog"
- loves Olaf
- will smile on command if you ask her to show you her teeth
- loves watching "Barney Ho Ho" aka Barney's Night Before Christmas on the iPad
