A Broken Arm

My sweet Ollie has a broken arm.  I truly still can't believe that I have a 19 month old with a broken arm.  The mom guilt set in DEEP.

I was folding laundry on our couch one Sunday.  Eric was golfing, Elle was playing and Ollie climbed up on the couch next to me.  He normally tries to either sit by me or when he is a bit hyper he tries to jump/fling himself off of it.  Well this day he stood behind me hugging me. My word how I love this sweet boy.

I have no idea if he stopped hugging me and turned around and fell off the back of the couch or if he climbed off it and fell...but either way he fell hard.  I immediately jumped up and ran to the back of the couch to grab him.  He cried hard but settled down and he didn't want to leave my lap.  I thought he was just scared.  After about 30 minutes he fell asleep on my lap. When he woke up from his nap he was still fussy so I set him down, made him walk to me, I kept feeling his shoulders to see if he was in pain, he legs and shoulders were both fine. So that night we went to my parents house for dinner, he ate great but was still just really fussy. After dinner and some playing Eric noticed he wouldn't throw a ball or use his right hand so off to the emergency room we went.

A bag of Doritos from the vending machine and a movie kept him pretty calm at the hospital but any nurse or doctor even touching him made him so angry!

After xrays (this was no fun) they told us both bones in his arm were fractured. (Picture me sobbing).
Ollie did so great with everything though! Here he is with his temporary splint.

Not only was Oliver a complete trooper but so was Elle.  Girlfriend was going on no nap and was amazing waiting in the hospital until 10pm. I went with Ollie for xrays and just generally didn't leave his side and she totally understood that's what I needed to do. She hung out with Eric, let him take her for bathroom breaks...just little things she would normally insist I do she didn't even question why I couldn't. I was so so proud of my sweet girl this night.

Home from the hospital in his little hospital gown brushing his teeth.

The next morning.
He never seemed to be in any pain after the day of the break.

They told us to try to make him wear this sling...yeah that was a complete failure.  He could wiggle out of that in no time flat.

The next Friday we went to Cardinal Glennon for an orthopedic doctor to review his xrays and get his cast put on.

Again if any doctor or nursed touched him he was so angry. And getting the cast put on was a complete circus. I was holding him, Eric was holding his phone with Hotel Transylvania 2 playing and holding his legs down so he would stop kicking the lady. There were 2 ladies trying to get the cast on and one started blaring Disney music from her phone in the hopes of calming him down. Ollie just screamed.

When they were done he just clung to me.
Look how red he is from all that screaming.  He was a sweaty, tear stained mess!

And now life is pretty much back to normal.  He is back to climbing anything he can find, he tries to use his right arm but is predominately using his left for now.

Bath time is a nightmare, he is not a fan of having his arm wrapped in plastic bags but the cast comes off October 11th so we will survive!

Blackberry Picking

A couple of weeks ago we rode the ferry's to Ekerts to pick blackberries.  Our original plan was to pick peaches as well but apparently they weren't available to pick that day.  So off to the blackberry fields we went!

Oliver has never had blackberries before but he loved them! I don't think he put a single one in the basket though.  Every one he picked (which was a lot) went straight in his mouth. :)

It was a wet, rainy day so we ended up being the only people there that day.  I think both the rain and the fact that is was a random Tuesday had a part in it.  One big perk to me being part time and Eric's constantly changing schedule.  A lot of times Mondays and Tuesdays are days all 4 of us go do things together since Eric works so many weekends.

We filled 2 baskets with blackberries to take home, both of the kids were gobbling them up so we made sure to pick a ton.

Wouldn't you know that they both stuffed themselves silly with blackberries that they didn't want to eat another one once we paid for them and brought them home.  They all went straight to the freezer for smoothies.

Ollie found a big stick and did his best to hit everything in sight.

On our way out the kids played on the playground and Eric and Ollie shared a peach we bought in the market store.

And I think the highlight of Elle's day was this bag of cotton candy we let her buy. :)

Apple season is next! My favorite!!

Labor Day Weekend

Our Labor Day Weekend was relaxing and full of fun!

Thursday night I had a hair appointment and as soon as I got home Elle and I got to work decorating the house for Fall...because if it's September that means it is Fall in the Hylton house!

Oliver wanted to help but he did more damage in eating any glitter/decor he could get his little hands on.

Friday night Eric worked so the babies and I went home, ordered Imo's and played on the deck.  The kids fought over bubbles and drew tons of pictures with chalk.

This baby boy just kills me with his cuteness!!!

Ollie has been so intrigued with this Halloween decoration.  As we were unloading all of our Fall decor I didn't' have a place for it so I just stuck it on this door knob and was going to deal with it later.  Once Ollie noticed it I heard him saying, "look! look! look!" and pointing at the witch. Later in the weekend I found him trying to feed her bites of his pizza. :)

I think he is trying to stay on her good side.

Saturday night we had Hylton Family movie night and rented the Jungle Book.

Elle did get her first taste of a Pumpkin Spice Latte this weekend.  I let her try a sip because I figured she would hate it but she LOVED it.  She kept asking for more drinks and saying "this is our best friend drink" which in the language of Sissy means it belongs to both of us now!

Sunday Eric took Elle golfing and Ollie and I went shopping and out to lunch with Mary and Mom.

Eric said Elle did great and was such a great listener. Towards the end I think she was done with the actual golfing and sat in the cart and drew me this picture and picked me this flower.  She is the sweetest girl!

My beautiful girl taking a nap.

After Elle's nap the two of us met Mary and the boys at the theater to see Pete's Dragon.  The kids all loved the movie. There was cheering, clapping and 3 little babes who couldn't stop talking about Elliot the dragon.

We ended the weekend on Monday with a BBQ at my parents house. The kids played outside, the jumped in the bounce-house and just had so much fun.  Nights like this are my absolute favorite.

I swear this boy knows he can do no wrong at MawMaw and PawPaw's house.  I love watching him go in MawMaw's pantry and fill his little hands with as many KitKats as he can carry. :)

End of Summer

In my eyes we are currently sitting in Fall so here is a look at how we wrapped up our summer!

Earlier this summer my mom and dad took Elle and Henry to a dinosaur exhibit. I love this pic my dad sent me!

Me and my girl on our way to breakfast before going to Target to shop for school supplies with MawMaw, MiMi and Henry.

Cappucino's gave her a little bag of school supplies to celebrate the tax free weekend. :)

Ollie was pretty excited about the Minion lunchbox MawMaw bought for him.

This boy is way too cute!

We've spent a lot of time after dinner on the deck eating popsicles and blowing bubbles.

Helping me make my coffee, I love this Anna nightgown of hers!

At Harper's house celebrating her 3rd birthday!

Ollie was trying to attack the ball. :)

These two are about a year apart and close to the same size. :)

My beautiful girl!

And my crazy little boy!

Elle saw these at the store one day and asked if we could get them.  She thought they were the one's with the terrible flavors but they were all good.

It's funny that she wanted them so badly thinking they were the bad jelly beans, :)

Trying on his outfit for Unc's wedding and the cuteness almost killed me!

We ran to WalMary for a quick trip for milk one night after dinner.  I completely forgot they sold fish and we just happened to walk past them so of course that slowed things down for us.

I can see a fish in our future.

We went to the mall one day to buy new shoes for Elle for school and these two had to stop for a ride.

And then Eric scared me to death by letting Ollie stand on the escalator.

While Sissy was napping one day Ollie and I shared an ice cream cone.  But really I made it and he stole it and ran to his couch in the living room.

He gets away with so much because he is way too cute!!

First day of school breakfast!  She woke up happy, excited and ready to go!

Fun at MawMaw and PawPaw's!

He loves playing with cars and trucks!

Stopping for a picnic lunch at Festival of the Little Hills.  Mary and Henry were in line at Tony's for nachos and Bear had finished his entire lunch before they got back. :)

Celebrating MawMaw and PawPaw's birthday!

Each kid (except Ollie) took a turn with dad making smores.

Sweet girl can still fast asleep at the drop of a hat.

Still getting the hang of stearing her bike.

Oliver's Toy Story obsession just keeps growing.

On this night he waled around with Jessie and Buzz all night and ended up taking them to bed.

I found out the root of Elle's Buzz obsession fromlast year, she has a crush! She told me the other night she thinks he is really cute!

These two LOVE to play in the landscaping rocks.  I can sit in a lawn-chair with my coffee and watch them play all morning.

Elle is doing SO GREAT in school!  Her second day of drop off there were some serious tears, I dropped her off in gym and this was a no-go for Roni.  Every other day I have done the carpool line and an 8th grader walks her to her classroom and she has done so amazing!

She is in the same grade as the little girl behind her, my girl is the tall girl in class! :)

We had a really fun summer but bring on all things Fall!
